NIMT® Nanoheater

Genovis has developed a prototype instrument for exposure of cells to an alternating magnetic field. One of the applications using this device is the exposure of cells during incubation together with NIMT FeOfection. K562  cells (Human myeloid leukaemia cells) incubated with NIMT FeOfection 1 were allowed to take up FeOfection/DNA complexes. Cells were then exposed to the alternating magnetic
field in the NIMT Nanoheater. NIMT Nanoheater promotes the release of DNA inside
cells and transfection rates increases compared to untreated cells. NIMT Nanoheater 
is used together with NIMT FeOfection to raise the transefction efficiency on difficult-
and hard- to - transfect cells. 


Renilla Luciferase
(phRL-SV40, Promega) DNA was allowed to form complexes with NIMT® FeOfection 1 Kit. The transfection complexes were then added to K562 cells and the cells were incubated 30 min at 37°C 5% CO2. Samples were then treated in NIMT® Nanoheater for 30 pulses with the field on for 30 sec and off 15 sec. Control cells were left in the incubator 24 hours post transfection EnuRen Live Cell Substrate (Promega) was added to samples and luminescence was measured.
